Oklahoma’s Finest Indie Punk
I am eagerly waiting for a new album from BRONCHO. Originating from Norman, OK, this band has gone from punk like skater rock on their first full length album Can’t Get Past the Lips to a compelling and spooky sound on their most recent Bad Behavior, while still maintaining the catchy lyrics they are known for.
It pains me to admit that I didn’t discover this band until the end of 2020, but I played them to death throughout the entirety of 2021. I simply couldn’t get enough. A sound full of memorable and snappy lyrics, with punchy drums and guitar sprinkled on top. Ryan Lindsey, the band’s lead singer and guitarist, loves to stutter through his lyrics which is reminiscent of something like My Sharona by The Knack….and lets be honest, we have all caught ourselves singing “M m m myyy Sharona” because it is just too fun to not sing. There is plenty of that energy to go around with BRONCHO.

The band really begins to shine when you look at each album individually. The contrast in sound is refreshing and captivating. In 2014 they released what is their most known album titled Just Enough Hip to be Woman which has a way of making you want to get up and aggressively bop your head back and forth. Their next full length album came in 2016 with Double Vanity which shifts to an eerie and in some cases unsettling sound ripe with reverb and spacey vibes. Bad Behavior was released in 2018 and feels like a lovely combination of the two prior albums, and in my opinion, is their most developed work to date.
This band does it all, and they do it well. Their latest single released in 2021 is a single “It’s Confidential” a quick and tight beach groove.
